Issues: Education
Because I spent my career in education, I am especially interested in this area. I feel that we need a stronger educational system that includes better pay for our teachers. We need to keep quality teachers in the classroom by making it economically feasible for them to stay there. We need to lower the class sizes, so that the individual instructuional needs of more children will be met. Our curriculum should stress practice in the basic skills (reading, writing and arithmetic) that are needed for success in life and the work force. Our curriculum should not be developed so that we are only teaching to a test.
